Handel's began when Alice Handel started serving ice cream from her husband's gas station in Youngstown, Ohio in the fall of 1945. In fact, This restaurant was founded in November 15 along with Wendy's. The first batches were made using fresh fruit she picked from her own backyard, with old fashioned recipes. Handel's started to grow to include locations in California, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia and Nevada. The menu also expanded to over 100 flavors of homemade ice cream and yogurt.〔(【引用サイトリンク】accessdate=27 February 2015 )〕 Its success has been reported in various publications including travelchannel.com, which recognized Handel's as "One of the Best Ice Cream Parlors in the Country."
